Strategy selection during exploratory behavior: sex differences
نویسنده
چکیده
This study was designed to assess sex-related differences in the selection of an appropriate strategy when facing novelty. A simple visuo-spatial task was used to investigate exploratory behavior as a specific response to novelty. The exploration task was followed by a visual discrimination task, and the responses were analyzed using signal detection

Light deprivation related changes of strategy selection in the radial maze
During the early postnatal age environmental signals underlie development of sensory systems. The visual system is considered as an appropriate system for evaluation of the role of sensory experience in postnatal development of sensory systems. In this study we evaluated the effect of visual deprivation on the usage of visuospatial cues in navigation of radial arm maze. Light (LR) and dark rear...

متن کاملAchievement Motivation and Strategy Selection during Exploratory Learning
Exploratory learning before instruction can benefit understanding, but can also be challenging. Individual differences in response to challenge, such as achievement motivation, may therefore moderate the benefits of exploratory learning. Higher mastery orientation generally leads to increased effort in response to challenge, whereas higher performance orientation leads to withdrawal. Children (...

متن کاملThe Ontogeny of Exploratory Behavior in Male and Female Adolescent Rats (Rattus norvegicus)
During adolescence, rats gain independence from their mothers and disperse from the natal burrow, with males typically dispersing further than females. We predicted that, if dispersal patterns are associated with responsiveness to novelty, exploratory behavior in novel environments would increase across adolescence, and males would explore more than females. Alternatively, females might explore...
